| This photograph is of an Indian petroglyph located a few miles from Moab, Utah. The locals have named this boulder "the Birthing Rock" and the scene, which is carved on all sides of the rock, is thought to portray a birth. The birth attendent ("midwife") in the carving is a large anthropomorph (a non-human given human traits) wearing a ceremonial headdress and necklace. The birthing woman and emerging baby are just to the anthropomorph's left in the carving. Many footprints and scorpions are depicted. |
